Organic compounds analyzed from the Matorova samples

The persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the air are collected using a high volume sampler (20 m3/h). Particles are trapped on a glass fiber filter followed by an adsorbent of polyurethane foam for collecting gaseous compounds. Deposition samples are collected with a Teflon coated bulk sampler provided with an adsorbent of polyurethane foam. The deposition sample includes both compounds in the precipitation and compounds deposited to the collection surface of the sampler. After solvent extraction the POPs are analyzed by gas chromatography or high performance liquid chromatography at the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, IVL.
